School Library

To promote a love of reading, we like to make the most of our school library. We are extremely lucky to be able to offer a welcoming space at the heart of our school, for children to relax and open their minds to new and exciting stories.

Each week, every class has the opportunity to visit the library and choose a new book from our range of challenging and high-quality texts. This includes an extensive choice of genres, both fiction and non-fiction, which we endeavor to add to regularly.

The school library is also available for children to access during lunch times. We have a brilliant team of Upper Key Stage 2 children and staff who keep our library tidy, updated and full of life!

Bedale Primary is also very lucky to have such a strong community of readers around us. We have our wonderful book swap in the playground where children can look for books that they would like to read, as well as donating books they have already read for others to enjoy! It is open every morning and after school.

As well as our own school library, we also have strong links with our local library in Bedale. Year groups visit the library at least once each year, where they can browse and borrow books. The library staff and volunteers are very welcoming and even put on some games to encourage the children to get involved in reading and using their local library to their full advantage!

We also have the pleasure of welcoming Bedale Library’s staff to our school regularly to launch reading challenges throughout the year.
